It is always a good idea to keep your computer up to date, to make sure you have all of the latest security updates for your system to prevent any known issues and to help protect your computer from viruses, malware or even hackers.

This is even more important now that there are so many people working from home in these days. So many people are connecting to their company servers remotely from home or are using the internet on their own personal computer from home instead of using their work computer at work behind the company’s firewall.

Unfortunately, hackers are taking advantage of this to prey on unsuspecting victims (THAT’S YOU). You have probably heard on the news or read on Facebook, how scammers and hackers are tricking people into “buying” emergency driving licenses for €200, or someone getting a phone call from Microsoft saying there is a virus on their computer which can be fixed over the internet once they pay a service charge using their credit card.

Below are some steps that can help increase the security on your devices. But never think that just because you have the latest updates, that your computer is completely safe while on the internet. Hackers are always looking for news ways to take over your device or steal your information. The best tool in your toolbar to fight this is you. Always take a few second to think before you click on a link that your are not sure where it came from, or if something sounds strange it probably is. 99% of the time that someone’s device get “hacked” or gets a virus on it, it is because the user (THAT’S YOU AGAIN) clicked a link and downloaded the virus.
